Gale Francione

Liturgical Design Consultant

Before a parish can create a new vision for its worship space, it must understand the spatial needs of worship. My role is first to assist in this understanding. Then I work with other professionals to fulfill that vision.

Working in the Midwest, I have twenty-five years of experience with many Christian churches. [I hope to add more to this at another time.]

APPROACH

I am a consultant for liturgical space, providing the link between the Sacred Liturgy, the People of God, and other Professionals who collaborate to develop a vision for new, modified, or renovated worship space, together bringing it to fruition.

PHILOSOPHY

I function as a weaver does, blending the history and needs of a local parish with the wisdom of the larger Church, through its tradition and liturgical practice. These threads combine with the vision of the congregation and the expertise of designers, artists, and artisans. I hold all these components in proper tension, so that the results are a beautiful and functional sacred space, ready to serve the liturgy. This unique tapestry is complete when the project is not simply a new or renovated building, but an enlivened peopl

TRADITIONS SERVED

My background is Roman Catholic, and I will work with any faith family who desires my services.

EDUCATION

Liturgical consultants need skills in worship and liturgy, art and architecture, and people skills. I have an M.A. in Liturgical Studies at Loyola University in Chicago, an M.A. in Art History from Illinois State University in Normal (IL), and a Certificate for Liturgical Consultants from Chicago Theology. I also have a Certificate of Youth Ministry from Loyola. The skills acquired through these programs and experience gained in working on individual projects give me the experience I need to work with your church.
