In the orchard country of central Washington, near historic Leavenworth, three parishes: Our Lady of the Assumption, Our Lady of the Snows, and St. Francis Xavier - were united in a newly constructed church whose liturgical heart is an entirely custom program of natural stonework. Every element and carving was conceived uniquely for this sacred space.
Bianco Carrara and Daino Reale marbles with Azul Bahia granite form the high altar, main altar, ambo, living water baptismal, and twenty turned columns. The centerpiece is a suspended seven-foot crucifix, with Jesus meticulously carved from Bianco Carrara and weighing approximately 420 pounds. Sacred carvings also depict Our Lady of the Assumption, John the Baptist, the four Evangelists, and the Lamb of God. Fourteen ornate Stations of the Cross line the nave, joined by carved holy-water fonts and Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Approximately 22,000 pounds of Italian stone supplied the project. Complex curved pediments required precise 3D modeling and multi-axis machining to resolve compound geometry across multiple planes. Installation culminated in rigging the crucifix twenty feet above the floor and maneuvering a specialized spider crane around finished sacred work to set the massive pediments.
Executed over eighteen months by a specialized six-person team, every altar, column, font, and figure was created for this church alone - a singular, unified expression of craftsmanship in service to the sacred.
Dear Joey and Team, On behalf of our entire parish community at Our Lady of the Assumption, I wish to express our deepest gratitude for the extraordinary marble work completed in our church. From the high altar and tabernacle setting to the altar, ambo, pedestals, and Stations of the Cross, every detail reflects craftsmanship of the highest caliber. The statues of Our Lady of the Assumption and Saint John the Baptist are magnificently set within marble surroundings that enhance their sacred presence. The Lamb of God relief, intricate capitals, Marian monograms, pediments, and harmonious combination of warm beige marble with rich blue stone demonstrate exceptional artistic vision, forming a unified sanctuary of beauty, dignity, and heaven. Marble is enduring and noble, conveying permanence, sacredness, and transcendence. Through your craftsmanship, theology is now expressed in stone. The sanctuary invites reverence, contemplation, and prayer. This was not simply construction work, but a labor of heart and mind. Parishioners and visitors have continually praised its beauty and the transformation of our sanctuary into a more noble, prayerful, and truly heavenly space. Please accept our sincere appreciation for your artistry, integrity, and devotion to sacred craftsmanship. You have left a lasting legacy in our parish community. May God bless you abundantly for contributing such beauty for His glory. Fr. Miguel González Pastor
