The finished bronze of this life size risen Christ will hang over the altar. His expression is alert as he looks out at the congregation with tenderness, as he does in the icon from Saint Catherine’s Monastery. He is free from the cross, but the visible wounds on his hands, feet, and side recall his real, embodied suffering, the marks of which are still present after his resurrection (John 20:20). His arms are raised in welcome to all who come to kneel around the table. The finished dimensions of the wood cross will be 84" x 62".
